We do love a good festival and Cornwall is getting a real name for the place to be for music, great cuisine and a really relaxed vibe. Following the success of The Great Estate and Tunes in the Dunes, we’ve written up our favourite upcoming festivals and live gigs for the summer season, if you haven’t got tickets yet be quick, they won’t be around for long!
Sundowner Sessions, July 20
Lusty Glaze is one of the most unique places to enjoy live music. Taking place on the sand in the crescent shaped cove, the renowned Sundowner Sessions include a variety of acts. This July sees Razorlight perform in front of the ocean to an audience of over 3,000 people. Please note, Lusty Glaze is not suitable for those with mobility issues as there are a vast number of steps down to the beach.
Bands In the Sands Festival, July & August
The Watering Hole set on picturesque Perranporth Beach is the perfect place for a series of gigs this summer. Having hosted music legend Tom Jones last month, July sees the arrival of The Stranglers, Seasick Steve and Feeder.
Leopallooza Festival, July 28-30
The 11th year of Leopallooza returns this year in Bude from July 28-30th. With an incredible line-up, acts include The Cribs, Maximo Park and Gabrielle Aplin along with beats and bass, alternative and electronic genres. There will also be a whole host of local acts including Wolf Note and Kezia.
Port Eliot Festival, July 27-30
Utterly unique and featuring true talent, Port Eliot Festival is one of the finest annual events in the Cornish calendar. The four-day event combines literature, music, comedy, art and more. This year sees a new poetry stage added and also a David Bowie special with producer of Lazarus Richard Fox.
Boardmasters Festival, August 9-13
No round-up is complete without featuring the most iconic festival in Cornwall. Boardmasters is taking place across two locations, Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay and promises to be the most epic line-up yet. Acts include Two Door Cinema Club, Jamiroquai and Alt-J alongside Jake Bugg, Slaves and DJ Roger Sanchez, to name a few. It’s virtual insanity, we can’t wait.
