We all know that January can be a little challenging. Whether it’s the grey weather, lack of light or the festive overindulging, we all seem to find the first month of the year hard going.
Of course, a new year and a new decade should really signal positive feelings, after all having the opportunity to make a fresh start, make plans for the year ahead and take time to reassess our priorities is a good thing. With all the negative press surrounding what seems like the longest month ever, January actually should be perceived as a blessing. Regardless of whether you make any formal resolutions for the year ahead, starting a new year should make January the perfect time to concentrate on you.
Perhaps you have spent the last 2 weeks surrounded by friends and family, perhaps you’re just back from an away-from-it-all festive holiday to tropical climes, or perhaps you have just overindulged on chocolate and cheese. Whatever your situation, now is the time to set the foundation for how you would like the rest of the new year to play out. Whether it’s reducing your alcohol intake, increasing your activity levels, practising yoga, deleting Instagram or simply booking a trip to look forward to, take time this month to really highlight what in your life needs attention, adjusting or dropping.
Cornwall has long been a favourite retreat for those seeking solace rest and relaxation. The summer months and the school holidays signal an influx of visitors from across the UK, drawn to the county’s soft sandy beaches and blue seas. The winter though is when Cornwall really comes into its own. Okay some businesses shut up shop, but the majority are very much open, and many can be as busy as in the summer months. The harbour and beach side cafés and restaurants are brimming with fresh produce. Sunday roasts beside a log fire with a sea view after a long beach walk surely is the best way to spend a Sunday.
The county’s spas offer much-needed detoxifying to those wanting to wash away a wealth of wine and Wensleydale. Our favourites sit on the north coast where wild Atlantic wave-watching can be coupled with a cosy massage or some serious pool time. What our onsite Cowshed spa lacks in a sea view, it makes up for in a treatment list fit to wash away even the most serious winter blues. We recommend trying our Cowshed Signature Massage, or our new Bespoke Facial treatment which uses a tailored personalised edit of Cowshed and SkinCeutical products. If you can’t decide which treatment to indulge in, our January package is just perfect. The Winter Wonder ‘pick and mix’ spa package means that you get to focus on what you really need. You can choose from either 60 minutes or 90 minutes consisting of 2 or 3 mini treatments of your choice, before enjoying a main meal in the hotel’s Shorecrest restaurant.
Of course if you want to really channel some inner zen, a stay in one of our Sea View Suites with their sea view balconies, plush kitchens and comfy living rooms will offer you all the privacy you need to get back to you.
During your stay you’ll be minutes from the South West coast path, the Camel Trail, and world class visitor attractions and gardens – perfect for exploring whatever the weather.
Start 2020 as you mean to go on; relax, reflect and recharge with a little bit of planning and positive thinking.
