The fun doesn't stop in Cornwall after the August Bank Holiday. There is still lots going on and lots of opportunities to get out and about to enjoy the remaining summer sunshine after the school holiday crowds have departed. Here are just some of our favourite September events.
5 August – 2 September
Get ready for an adventure with the whole family and explore the lost world of dinosaurs at the Eden Project this summer.
You’ll have a close encounter with the life size most feared prehistoric giant of them all, the Tyrannosaurus Rex, become a true explorer as you search for the lost dinosaur and enjoy lots more hands-on activities that aim to reconnect youngsters with nature and the fragility of life.
30 August – 28 September
The internationally acclaimed Cornish theatre company, Kneehigh, take to the stage in the stunning Lost Gardens of Heligan this September to present their jaw-dropping new show, Dead Dog in a Suitcase (and other love songs).
The restaurant at the Lost Gardens of Heligan will be offering a specially created pre-theatre menu, before the award winning cast of actor musicians wow you with their weird and wonderful performance at the Asylum.
12 September – 14 September
Newquay Fish Festival returns for its 12th year, showcasing once more one of Cornwall’s hidden gems, Newquay Harbour. The three day annual event brings together Newquay’s vibrant holiday scene and the traditional fishing community of the old Cornish Harbour, creating a very special atmosphere for everybody to soak up.
The cooking demonstrations by top local chefs remains undoubtedly the highlight of the festival, promoting the spectacular locally sourced fresh fish and shellfish that Cornwall has in abundance.
Without wanting to tempt fate, Newquay Fish Festival has been blessed with beautiful weather the last 11 years; fingers crossed 2014 proves no different! With arts, crafts and lots of activities for the whole family, this event cements its popularity with holiday makers and locals alike year upon year.

12 September – 14 September
The Little Orchard Cider & Music Festival is back for 2014 (formerly the Little Apple Festival) after an amazing first year at the beautiful working Healey’s Cyder Farm. Showcasing fantastic bands from all over the world and hosting three days of festivities including dancing and tractor ride fun for all the family, cider sampling, top nosh food and more, The Little Orchard is set to be another incredible weekend of Cornish fun.

26 September – 28 September
The Great Cornish Food Festival (formerly known as Cornwall Food & Drink) returns this September with a fresh new name and new look to kick start the festival’s second decade! Remaining the biggest festival dedicated to solely Cornish food and drink, the 3-day jam packed foodie programme of eating, drinking, shopping and entertainment from the county’s top chefs, ensures there is something for everyone.
