Our Head Chef Jamie Porter along with Andy Appleton of Fifteen Cornwall, Head Chef Stephane Delourme and executive pastry chef Stuart Pate, both at Rick Stein, will be cooking up a treat at a gala night at the Eden Project this November to celebrate the end of a mammoth fundraising challenge.
Both Stephane and Truro-based businessman Peter McGahan have been putting their best feet forward in a unique challenge that they created. The pair ran a marathon in seven Celtic Nations – Northern Ireland, Brittany, Wales, the Isle of Man, Galicia in Spain and Scotland. They finished their grand tour at the Eden Project marathon earlier this month.
Stephane and Peter ran the marathons in aid of three charities: The Invictus Trust, which works to support teenage mental health, Ellie’s Haven, which offers non-medical short-break holiday services to children with life-limiting, life-threatening and prolonged illnesses and their families, and Action for Children, a national charity that supports some of the UK’s most vulnerable and neglected children and young people.
The pair have worked closely with the charities, involving the children and young adults in everything they could from designing logos and waiting on at the dinner events. Visit their Virgin Money Giving page to donate.
Both men were trained by Olympics Team GB head physiotherapist Gordon Bosworth. “The training has been difficult but incredibly rewarding and we’re very proud to be raising funds and awareness for three very important charities,” said Mr McGahan, who owns Worldwide Financial Planning.
