What To Pack for a Summer Holiday in Cornwall- Our Top 10

What To Pack for a Summer Holiday in Cornwall- Our Top 10

When visiting Cornwall it’s hard to know what to take.  After all, the weather changes from one day to the next.  We’ve put together our guide on what to pack for a holiday, St Moritz style.  Here’s our top ten must-pack guide:

1.     A capsule summer wardrobe – keep it within the same colour scheme so that everything can be mixed and matched. Think denim shorts, kaftans and layers so that you can wear more or less depending on the weather. We recommend a cashmere jumper for chilly evenings and for balmy summer nights, a pretty sundress that will take you from beach to bar with the simple addition of a pair of wedges and elegant drop earrings.  Glam it up with a spritz of Miller & Harris perfume, available in our pop up boutique by Cornish style leaders Roos Beach.

2.     Suncream – don’t forget to protect from the rays and stock up on sunscreen to bring with you.

3.     Swimwear – whether you’re taking a dip in our indoor pool, splashing about in the outdoor pool, heading to one of the nearby beaches or simply sunbathing on your private patio or setting up camp outside one of our beach huts, swimwear is a must. We recommend packing more than one suit so that you never have to wait for one to dry if you go for morning and afternoon dips.

4.     A good book – you can’t beat a good book. Well, other than a good book on the beach. Cornwall is the best place to escape into a fantasy land. Pull up a deckchair next to our pool, order a coffee from our Sea Side restaurant and get lost in the latest novel.

5.     Beach gear – bring a beach tent, towels, a foldable deckchair and a bucket and spade, our dedicated Land Rover service will take you to nearby Rock and Polzeath beaches.

6.     A camera – essential for getting the best shots of your holiday and capturing the scenery.

7.     Toothpaste – one of the main things that people forget, make sure you pack your paste.

8.     Walking Shoes – Flipflops and sandals are perfect for beach strolls or a day out in Padstow but if you’re contemplating exploring the cliff paths or going any distance, make sure you pack great footwear.

9.     Sun Hat – the perfect protection from the sun (not to mention a style staple), a sun hat is the finishing touch to any outfit.

10.   Coral Lipstick – Forget packing the entire make-up bag, why not go barefaced and let the Cornish breeze give your cheeks the colour it needs? But come evening, a slick of coral lipstick will dress any outfit up, and everything looks better in colour. We love the look of this one.

So now you know what to pack, how about what not to pack?

Don’t pack shampoo or any body washes, you’ll be treated to our Cowshed toiletries everywhere you turn.  Don’t bring dressing gowns, bath towels or DVDs, we have everything you need as well as a full Sky package in the hotel rooms.  You can bring glossy magazines but you’ll find copies of these in the spa and the latest edition of stylish south west glossy Manor magazine in your room.

By all means bring your phone but there is limited recpetion here and anyway we recommend switching it to 'do not disturb' and enjoying one of our signature Cowshed full body massages followed by a bottle of Sancerre on the terrace, what more do you need?
