St Moritz 2015 Chosen Charity - Ellie's Haven

Our chosen charity for 2015 is Ellie’s Haven. Throughout the entire year for every specially selected dish ordered from the evening menu the St Moritz Hotel will donate £1 to the charity.

Ellie’s Haven is a charity that plans to offer holidays to families with children who have long term or life limiting illnesses. To achieve this, the family have purchased a property in South East Cornwall to convert it into a holiday haven, catering for up to two families at a time.“Ellie’s Haven” will aim to bring relief to children by providing holidays to the whole family, so that they can spend quality time together away from normal surroundings. The charity plans to complement rather than compete with hospices, focusing on providing holidays for the whole family rather than medical care for the disabled child.

The charity has raised enough money to buy the property, however need further funds to convert it and cover the running costs. Their plan is to offer holidays from spring 2015.

The founders of Ellie’s Haven are Julie and Nigel Libby. Sadly, they lost two children Ellie and Thomas as a result of complex medical conditions. Their experience is the inspiration behind the simple idea to give families precious time together.

This video explains why Ellie’s Haven is so important to families with disabled children.
