Winter Walks

Wild Cornish winters make for exciting and dynamic coastal walks. Grab your boots, take to the foot paths and watch the waves batter the cliffs. For a change in scenery, head to the equally rugged Bodmin Moor. There’s 150 square miles to explore of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and World Heritage Site. Rough Tor and Brown Willy, the two highest peaks in Cornwall, are well worth the hike to the top. Expansive views over moorland, standing stones, disused tin mines and medieval farms are a great illustration of Cornwall’s diversity. Once you’re all walked out, head back to the hotel for a creamy hot chocolate or warming tipple by the fire.

Serious Swell

Surfing isn’t just for summer! With sea temperatures reaching 18 degrees this August, the water will be easily warm enough to swim, surf and paddle through to the end of October. What’s more, all the serious surfers know that Cornish seas come alive with Atlantic swells as soon as winter arrives.  Our talented Wavehunters team on the beach have everything you need, whether you’re looking to stand up for the first time or perfect your bottom turns and cut backs.  If you’re not a winter warrior, grab a hoody and watch the waves roll in from the cliffs. Fancy some storm chasing? Make sure you head for the coast when high tide coincides with a huge swell.

‘Adventure Break’

Choose from surfing, kayaking, coasteering or stand-up paddle boarding and let us take you to the beach and arrange the instruction. We’ll throw in dinner and a cocktail too!

Secret Gardens

25 years ago, Heligan’s historic gardens were unknown and unseen. It was only the chance discovery of a door in the ruins of the old estate that led to the restoration of one of the most mysterious and romantic estates in England. Now in its third decade, the award winning restoration is internationally acclaimed.

Heligan is a garden for all seasons, so whether you plan to visit in the hazy buzz of mid-summer, or the tranquillity of winter, you are guaranteed a unique experience.
