Pilates was created by its namesake, Joe Pilates, who developed his fitness regime over years of self study, working with a range of different disciplines including martial arts, boxing and gymnastics. In the early days, Joe's New York studio was frequented by boxers, skiers and wrestlers and later, by the dance community.
The sports world continues to reap the benefits with surfers, premiership footballers, cricketers, golfers and rugby players all using Pilates regularly as part of their training. So, alongside Body Control Centre trainer and global Pilates expert Amy Swanson, the St Moritz Hotel has created a weekend Pilates retreat dedicated to the boys.
With a focus on simple, strong movements and flexibility, Amy will also address each participant's specific needs, be it recovery from an injury or exercises to enhance their performance in other sports.
